It started with the sound of a sledgehammer striking a giant rusty water tank. A mid-tour demonstration of the acoustics of 22 miles of ancient man-made caves. Thirty seconds of natural reverb later, an idea was born.

The result is ‘Subterranean: Live at Chislehurst Caves’

In the 50s and 60s, Chislehurst Caves was home to experimental jazz nights. As the 60s collapsed it played host to shows by Hendrix, Floyd, The Stones and pretty much every band that mattered.

Subterranean: Live at Chislehurst Caves is a new, divergent step in the story. Barry and Purdie act as necromancers to the musical spirits of the artists who played within these cold, damp, hand-dug caves – while adding an uncompromisingly loud and abrasive carving in the multi-millennia history of the location.
